Tsilumos is a new music ensemble based in Victoria, BC Canada. Formed in 2011, the ensemble is co-directed by members Joanna Hood, Dániel Péter Biró, Ajtony Csaba and Kris Covlin. The ensemble performs chamber music ranging from duos to large instrumental combinations. Its main objective is to give new and little-known Canadian and International works an optimal performance, regardless of technical and intellectual demands or compositional style. Since its inception the ensemble has brought high quality, challenging new music to the larger community of British Columbia.
Its members have performed nationally and internationally at such new music venues as the Darmstadt Summer Courses, the Mehrklang Festival in Freiburg, Germany, at the Espace Dell’Arte in Montreal, Vienna Konzerthaus, Festival Wien Modern, Tage der Zeitgenössischen Musik Dresden Germany, Festspielhaus Dresden, Budapest Autumn Festival, Bartok Festival Hungary.
