About

“Northwest Passages: Thirteen Climate Alarms from the Arctic,” a mesmerizing musical soundscape reflects the grandeur and fragility of our ecosystem. Composed as a continuous work, its distinct sections highlight thirteen specific climate concerns, and the thirteen distinct viola parts evoke the region’s vast landscapes and the need for personal responsibility in responding to them. The composer writes that “The unique timbre of thirteen distinct viola parts enables massive textures suggesting the vastness of the landscape, as well as glacial layering, sliding, splitting, melting and deformation.”
